About the Book:
In Faces of Rap Mothers: Book Two, Candy Strother DeVore-Mitchell continues to unveil the compelling narratives of the influential mothers behind the rap and hip-hop culture. This installment presents alternative retrospectives that highlight the resilience and strength of Rap Mothers, providing readers with insights drawn from their rich histories intertwined with the legacies of rap's most distinguished figures. These women have navigated the complexities of fame, facing both the accolades and misfortunes that come with it—illustrating that in the shadow of rising stars, every experience is part of a broader narrative.

Faces of Rap Mothers: Book One, initially released in the fall of 2019 and reissued in February 2020, underwent a comprehensive redesign that included a restructured layout, re-engineered chapters, and a new cover design. This foundational title launched Candy Strother DeVore-Mitchell’s visionary Faces of Rap Mothers initiative, which has since evolved into a multifaceted enterprise encompassing a television network, music groups, and a growing community now including over one hundred Rap Mothers and, more recently, Rap Fathers.

This title garnered acclaim, being nominated for “Most Entertaining Book of 2019” by the CEO of Soul Central Magazine, receiving recognition across award platforms in Europe and the United States.

Today, Faces of Rap Mothers stands as a dynamic platform within the rap and hip-hop community. With the acquisition of a television network on Roku, the Faces of Rap Mothers Television Network is rapidly becoming a key channel provider, delivering engaging programming to an expanding audience. Moreover, the initiative has established the Faces of Rap Mothers Music Group, where member artists share rights to music that resonates widely across American airwaves—encouraging collaborations that are being hailed as "dope" by listeners.
